Create a Simple Wellness Routine

Wellness is a popular topic these days. There are thousands of serums, tools, and spa treatments promising you that elusive feeling of zen. As moms we have limited time, energy, and resources so it’s easy to succumb to all the hype. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a spa day but that’s not a luxury I can afford all the time.

Thankfully, wellness doesn’t have to be time-consuming or expensive. It can be as simple as daily habits that take 5 minutes or less. Even in the busiest of seasons, I know we all have at least 5 minutes to invest in our wellbeing.

Here are 6 simple practices to sprinkle into your day:

Get Outside

Spending a few minutes a day outside is a great way to connect with nature, enjoy some fresh air and soak in immune-boosting Vitamin D.

Movement

Engage in any physical activity that you enjoy, whether it's dancing, strength training or a simple walk around the block. Move in a way that makes you feel good and boosts your endorphins (those feel good chemicals).

Deep Breathing

To feel more calm and focused, take 5-10 deep breaths before you get out of bed in the morning and before you go to sleep at night.

Gratitude

Write down three things you are grateful for and you’ll naturally start to notice all the little blessings in your day.

Hydrate

Increase your energy and alertness in the morning by drinking one glass of water upon waking.

Nature’s Vitamins

Reach for at least one fruit and veggie a day to get a natural source of vitamins and minerals.

Remember, self-care isn’t selfish it’s essential. As you adopt these simple practices into your day, you’ll begin to notice a positive difference in your overall health and wellness.
